Getting Started with tinyCFO

Connect your accounts, set up AI access, and start querying your finances in plain English. Takes under five minutes.

April 5, 2026|3 min read

tinyCFO connects your bank accounts, credit cards, and investment platforms into a single intelligence layer. Ask anything about your finances in plain English and get answers grounded in your real data.

How It Works

  1. Connect once. Link your financial accounts through Plaid, SnapTrade, and direct crypto wallet tracking. tinyCFO aggregates balances, transactions, holdings, and recurring charges automatically.
  2. Query anything. Use Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible AI to ask questions against your data in natural language. No dashboards to learn, no reports to build.
  3. Get real answers. Every response is powered by your actual numbers. Spending breakdowns, net worth trends, cash flow analysis, recurring charges, portfolio allocation: all queryable on demand.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Go to tinycfo.ai and sign up with Google or email. You will land on the onboarding screen.

Step 2: Connect Your Accounts

You can link 10,000+ financial accounts and institutions, plus auto-track your crypto wallets. Connect what matters most to your financial picture:

  • Checking and savings accounts
  • Credit cards
  • Brokerage and retirement accounts
  • Crypto exchanges
  • Crypto wallets (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more) — auto-tracked from on-chain balances
  • Loans and mortgages
Tip

Start with your most active account. You can always add more later from the dashboard.

Transactions, balances, and account details sync within minutes. From that point forward, everything stays up to date automatically.

Step 3: Connect an AI Assistant

This is where tinyCFO becomes powerful. Connect your account to an AI assistant and start asking questions:

  • "What did I spend on restaurants last month?"
  • "What is my net worth right now?"
  • "Show me all recurring charges over $50"
  • "Am I cash flow positive this month?"
  • "What is my portfolio allocation?"

tinyCFO provides the data layer. The AI provides the intelligence. You get answers in seconds that would take hours to assemble manually.

What You Can Query

Once connected, your AI assistant has access to everything tinyCFO knows about your finances:

CategoryExamples
SpendingBreakdowns by category, merchant, or account over any date range
Cash FlowIncome vs. expenses, savings rate, monthly trends
Net WorthCurrent snapshot, historical tracking, assets vs. liabilities
TransactionsSearch by merchant, amount, date, or category across all accounts
RecurringSubscriptions, recurring bills, upcoming charges
InvestmentsHoldings, allocation, performance by account or asset class

You never call these tools directly. Ask a question in plain language and the AI picks the right data source.

The Dashboard

Your tinyCFO dashboard gives you a visual overview alongside the AI layer:

  • Transactions across all accounts, auto-categorized and searchable
  • Net worth tracking with assets, liabilities, and trends over time
  • Account balances updated continuously from your connected institutions

We are building out richer dashboards, a mobile app, and more visualization tools designed for people who want a complete financial picture in one place.

Security

  • Your credentials stay with your bank. Plaid and SnapTrade handle authentication. We never see or store your login details.
  • Encryption at rest. All sensitive data is encrypted using AES-256-GCM.
  • Read-only access. tinyCFO can view your financial data but cannot move money or make changes to any account.
